Leeds United fans took to Twitter to hail Ryan Edmondson for his first-half performance in the team's friendly against the Myanmar national team on Friday.

The striker, 16, was named in an experimental line-up for the controversial clash at the Mandalar Thiri Stadium in oppressive conditions, with the mercury hitting 35C.

Manager Paul Heckingbottom revealed beforehand that he was likely to field all 22 players in the squad for the second of two post-season friendlies in Myanmar after Leeds lost the first 2-1 on Tuesday.

Many of those used in the first half today were youngsters, although senior men Luke Ayling, Kalvin Phillips, Caleb Ekuban and Ronaldo Vieira started alongside Edmondson and the likes of Jack Clarke and Madger Gomes.

The scoreline was 0-0 at half-time after Ekuban missed a string of excellent chances.

His fellow forward Edmondson cut a lively presence and earned praise from supporters delighted to see him in action, with one fan claiming his alliance with fellow academy product Clarke "is stuff dreams are made of".

Leeds have received significant criticism over the tour, which activists, politicians and even Amnesty International raising their concerns over the trip, owing to the ongoing military crackdown in the country.
