Leeds United fans will be worried about the prospect of Archie Gray leaving the club after Paraag Marathe admitted his future at Elland Road isn’t guaranteed.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, former Leeds goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who is still well-connected at his former club, admitted the 18-year-old could be sold this summer to help balance the books.

The latest accounts showed the club must fork out £73.6million in outstanding payments by 30 June, fueling the speculation around whether some of their stars could leave the club in the next few weeks.

Leeds chairman Marathe has admitted sales may be necessary as the club look to comply with the profit and sustainability rules (PSR), and conceded he could not discount whether Gray would be sold this summer.

Leeds United could lose Archie Gray as player sales expected

Robinson believes the PSR situation surrounding the Whites could be an issue as they look to ensure some of their star players remain at Elland Road ahead of next season.

“They won’t be able to keep the squad intact,” he told Football Insider.

“The manager has done a decent job this year barring a couple of results. They could have gone up automatically, but they didn’t get it over the line.

“We know about the financial situation the club is in and the losses they have recorded.

“We also know about the unpaid transfer fees, which is going to be a problem. FFP and PSR are going to become an issue.

“The fact the chairman has said there are going to have to be tradeoffs and deals done, and he actually namechecked Archie Gray in that statement.

“That will be worrying for Leeds fans, they will hate this, because he’s a player they will be keen to keep hold of.

“You are looking at the likes of Gray, Gnonto and Summerville potentially leaving.”
