Steve Evans has admitted his time at Leeds has almost certainly come to an end after the club's final game of the season.

Leeds drew 1-1 with Preston at the Deepdale stadium thanks to a last gasp equaliser from Lilywhites striker Jordan Hugill and Evans was visibly emotional as he thanked the huge travelling support after the game.

Evans' reign at Elland Road has looked to be reaching its conclusion in recent weeks with no word from owner Massimo Cellino about whether the Scotsman can expect a permanent deal.

The 53-year-old has revealed that there has been several rounds of discussions with Cellino is recent days, but said on Saturday that he expects to have managed his last game for Leeds following the absence of assurances from the Italian owner about a fresh contract.

Evans had said the Preston clash was "maybe" his last match as Leeds boss during his post-match media conference and then went further in an interview with BBC journalist Adam Pope by adding that he expects to be moving on from the club.

Evans has been linked with several vacant jobs in recent weeks, including Nottingham Forest and Peterborough, but has reiterated he will not be speaking to other clubs until he is absolutely certain he will be leaving Leeds.

Evans was appointed in October to replaced the sacked Uwe Rosler and is in line to become the sixth managerial head to roll under Cellino since he took over in 2014.

The former Rotherham manager was given a six-month rolling contract and has successfully steered the club away from the relegation zone to finish 13th in the Championship table.

In other Leeds news, a star defender is also on the verge of an Elland Road exit.
