Leeds United are actively trying to sign a striker before the transfer window shuts, according to a reliable journalist.

Yorkshire Evening Post correspondent Phil Hay has taken to Twitter to give an update on the club's plans to add to their 10 summer signings to date.

Hay revealed on his personal account on the social media site that Leeds are "still in the market" for another front man despite signing Caleb Ekuban from Italian club Chievo earlier this month.

Thomas Christiansen's side wanted to sign Ashley Fletcher from West Ham for a third consecutive window but lost out when Middlesbrough signed the 21-year-old last week.

Hay also poured cold water on the possibility of Leeds completing a sensational deal for Valencia striker Alvaro Negredo, labelling the 31-year-old as "too expensive".

Christiansen wants a new front man amid growing doubts about the futures of attacking pair Souleymane Doukara and Marcus Antonsson.
