Leeds reported pursuit of Macedonian international Ezgjan Alioski has received a boost after his club confirmed he would be sold to an English club.

Phil Hay, the chief football writer for the Yorkshire Evening Post, tweeted a statement from FC Lugano which said Sunday was "probably one of Alioski's last training sessions" before his "sale to an English club".

These tweets come on the back of a tweet from Radio Yorkshire commentator Joe Rawson, who said that Alioski was a target for Leeds and that Champions League regulars Basel were also interested.

And a tweet from Phil Hay that said that Leeds were fighting very hard for Alioski and that a deal was "very possible".

If the statement from FC Lugano is true, it could mean yet another exciting deal for new Leeds manager Thomas Christiansen.

Alioski scored 17 goals across all competitions last season, and supplied a further 14 assists in 36 appearances.

Alioski, 25, has 13 caps for Macedonia and has scored one international goal.

Leeds have already made six signings, with Samuel Saiz, Mateusz Klich, Felix Wiedwald, Vurnon Anita, Pontus Jansson and Hadi Sacko all signing for the Elland Road club.

They are also close to a deal for Chievo striker Caleb Ekuban, who is due to undergo a medical in the next 48 hours, according to the Yorkshire Evening Post.
