Ouasim Bouy has been told he has played he won't ever play for Leeds United, Football Insider understands.

The central midfielder, 26, remains at Elland Road after failing to find a new club over the summer.

A Leeds source told has told Football Insider that Bouy is training on his own and he will remain frozen out from the first-team squad.

The situation will remain the same even if the former Juventus player does not secure a transfer in the January window.

Bouy has not made a senior appearances for Leeds since joining on a free transfer in the summer of 2017 on a four-year contract.

He was immediately loaned out to Leeds' feeder club Cultural Leonesa in the Spanish second tier but that deal was ripped up midway through the season and he returned to Thorp Arch, where he was frozen out of the matchday squad.

Bouy spent last season out on loan at Dutch Eredivisie club PEC Zwolle, making 18 starts among 23 appearances from all competitions.

Leeds had been hopeful that the sustained run of form would enable the midfielder to find a new club in the summer but that did not prove to be the case.

The difficulty for the club is he still has nearly two years remaining on his contract, so it is not feasible to mutually agree to terminate the deal as they did with Vurnon Anita.
