Leeds United star Dallas 'embarrassing' and 'couldn't cope' - ex-Whites star
Stuart Dallas isn't a full-back and should be restored to the Leeds United midfield by new manager Jesse Marsch.
That is according to ex-Whites goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the Northern Ireland international's role in the team after Saturday's 1-0 Premier League defeat to Leicester City.
A Harvey Barnes goal was enough to condemn Leeds to another defeat and one that leaves them marooned in 16th place in the table.
Leeds remain only two points above the bottom three, having played two games more than 18th-placed Burnley.
United dominated the match at the King Power Stadium and had 19 shots compared to seven from the hosts.
Marsch sprung one surprise by fielding Robin Koch in central midfield alongside Mateusz Klich rather than Dallas or Adam Forshaw, who started on the bench.
Dallas, who operated at right-back, struggled to cope with Barnes and was given a torrid time.
"He's better in midfield rather than full-back," Kenny told Football Insider. "Yes, he's got loads of energy and dynamism, but you can tell he's spent most of his career as a winger at times.
"Look at his body positioning, he gets squared up by top wingers and too flat footed, which is a bit embarrassing at times.
"His skills are best in midfield, where he is good on the ball and a runner who does the dirty week. He couldn't cope always at full-back."
Dallas was a virtual ever-present of the Leeds team during the Marcelo Bielsa era and arguably their outstanding performer last season.
He has started all 27 of their Premier League games this term, which have been almost evenly split between right-back, left-back and central midfield.
