Leeds United fans were left in awe of Mateo Joseph after his performance in the pre-season victory against Hannover.

The Spaniard scored twice as Leeds defeated their German opponents 4-1, with Ilia Gruev and Joel Piroe also getting on the scoresheet.

Patrick Bamford and Joel Piroe were the preferred options up top for Daniel Farke last season, but Joseph's form in pre-season has put him in with a chance at staking a claim.

As his impressive performances continue, cries for him to be involved on a more regular basis are becoming louder among fans.

Last season, he featured 28 times but started just four games across all competitions as Farke was reluctant to trust the 20-year-old ahead of his more experienced teammates.

As reported by Football Insider, Joseph had already impressed fans before pre-season began after an interview in which he insisted this would be a big season for his development.

He has now continued to prove his worth on the pitch, with supporters expecting him to have risen above Patrick Bamford in the pecking order.

As a result, many are predicting the "brilliant" striker will have a great season, with some tipping him to win the golden boot as Leeds search for promotion.
