Sources: Liverpool chiefs 'appalled' by Leeds man's 'diabolical' behaviour
Senior Liverpool figures were unimpressed by Victor Orta's conduct in the immediate wake of the landmark Leeds United win last Saturday, sources have told Football Insider.
The United director of football celebrated wildly in the directors' box at the end of the 2-1 triumph at Anfield, which came following a last-gasp Crysencio Summerville goal that stunned the home crowd.
Observers say Orta's celebrations continued in the boardroom lounge well after the match had finished.
One eye-witness told Football Insider that Orta was pumping his fists, beating his chest and "screaming" his delight in full view of Liverpool figures.
"It was appalling, diabolical behaviour - as if his team had just won the World Cup," the observer said.
The Spaniard, 43, is renowned as a passionate and fiery figure who wears his heart on his sleeve.
His frenzied celebrations when the club secured promotion back to the Premier League in 2020 endeared him to many Leeds fans, and Orta was similarly manic when United avoided relegation at the end of last season.
The United faithful appreciate how the Spaniard rides the emotional waves of following the club in a similar way to how many of them do.
However, that type of conduct does not always go down so well in Premier League boardrooms, executive lounges and directors' boxes, where club officials are expected to temper their celebrations and behave more considerately.
The Premier League has officials to monitor behaviour in directors' boxes as well as in boardroom and executive lounges where senior club figures assemble afterwards.
