Revealed: Leeds senior star set to miss rest of season in huge Bielsa blow
Leeds United are set to be without Adam Forshaw for the rest of the season, Football Insider understands.
The Championship is on course to return next month and that may be in line with the Premier League, which announced yesterday matches will resume on 17 June.
A Leeds source told Football Insider that the club do not expect Forshaw to feature for the rest of this campaign due to a longstanding hip injury.
The central midfielder, 28, underwent surgery in the United States in February and is undergoing lengthy rehabilitation.
He began this season in Marcelo Bielsa's team and was integral to their excellent start to the campaign.
But the former Middlesbrough man has made just one appearance for Leeds since August and it now looks like he has played his last football in 2019-20.
Being without Forshaw is something Bielsa has had to get used to, and the Championship leaders have coped very well without him.
But the Argentine manager is a big admirer of the central midfielder's calmness and ability to dictate the tempo of a match and being without him is a significant blow.
Forshaw has suffered a series of injuries since his £4million transfer in January 2018 and made just 52 appearances for the club despite being a first choice when he is available.
Leeds' stars have been back in full training since the start of this week as the likelihood of a mid June restart increases.
