Leicester's Conor Coady reacts to Nelson Semedo message after Wolves return attempt

Wolves captain Nelson Semedo has reacted to his side edging a step closer to Premier League safety with victory over West Ham, prompting a response from Leicester City's Conor Coady.

This has been a difficult season at Molineux, which has seen the club struggle on the pitch, while also facing issues off it.

Indeed, Semedo had to replace Mario Lemina as Wolves captain earlier in the season, after the midfielder - who has since left - was stripped of the role for disciplinary issues.

Meanwhile, there were reports that Coady was desperate to return to Wolves from Leicester late in the winter transfer window.

Although no deal materialised, it appears the centre-back is still a keen follower of his former club.

On Tuesday (1 April), Vitor Pereira's side picked up a 1-0 win over West Ham at Molineux, to take another big step towards avoiding relegation from the Premier League.

Following that victory, they are now 12 points clear of Ipswich and Leicester in the relegation zone, with the result leading to wild celebrations among the Wolves staff.

Although that means Leicester's own hopes of survival have been dealt a blow, it appears Coady is still pleased to see things working out for his old club.

On Wednesday (2 April), Semedo took to Instagram to reflect on that win for Wolves, as he wrote: "Molineux nights. Great team spirit from everyone at the stadium. We are not slowing down now."

In response to that, Leicester defender Coady was among those to like the post in an apparent show of support for Semedo and his teammates.

There is no denying the fact that Coady enjoyed several excellent years at Wolves, making himself an icon at Molineux in the process.

As a result the fact that he would want his former club to do well is certainly understandable, although fans of his own side may not relish him doing that publicly when it could cost them so much.

This has been a hugely frustrating season for Leicester fans, and one of their players liking a result that has pushed them closer to relegation may not help the sentiment around the club.

Of course after the speculation around his future earlier this year, it will be intriguing to see if Coady returns to Molineux in the summer.

That is particularly interesting given Wolves have since been linked to another centre-back in the form of Michael Keane at Everton.
