Neil Lennon has given the green light for defender Jack Hendry to leave Celtic this month, Football Insider has learned.

The centre-back, 24, has been given just 11 minutes of first team action this season and has been completely frozen out of the squad for over three months.

A Celtic source has told Football Insider that the club are expected willing to offload Hendry after Lennon indicated he will remain way down the pecking order in the second half of the campaign.

The former Dundee defender is expected to go out on loan but it has not been ruled out that he could leave on a permanent deal.

But Hendry refused to switch to Rugby Park and Taylor ended up signing for Celtic in a straight-cash deal with no players in exchange.

Hendry has seen his Celtic career stall since Lennon took over as manager in February after making 26 of his 27 appearances for the club under ex-boss Brendan Rodgers.

The Scotland international, who has a contract at Parkhead that runs until the summer of 2022, is behind Christopher Jullien, Kristoffer Ajer, Jozo Simunovic and Nir Bitton in the club's centre-back pecking order.
