21-year-old axed, recalled attacker will be hero: This Celtic XI will destroy Motherwell

Celtic and Motherwell meet this Sunday with the first silverware of the season up for grabs in the Betfred Cup Final.

Despite Celtic currently being 64 games unbeaten domestically, this game could prove to be a reasonably evenly-matched affair.

Motherwell manager Stephen Robinson will certainly have his team pumped up for the game – he will believe they can add Celtic to the list of teams defeated in this competition, which includes Aberdeen and Rangers.

The Steelmen's physical style knocked Rangers out of their stride in last month's semi-final, and that is something hat Brendan Rodgers and Celtic will need to be wary of.

Motherwell's key man is undoubtedly striker Louis Moult, who scored twice against Celtic last season, the Hoops will know that he can cause them all sorts of problems.

Celtic though do have the players to handle all that Motherwell can throw at them.

Goalkeeper and defenders

Celtic

Dorus de Vries (Goalkeeper) - Should replace the struggling Craig Gordon, showed his worth with a recent man of the match performance against Dundee which was rewarded with a contract extension.

Kieran Tierney (Left-back) - Scotland's young player of the year has the ability to create problems for Motherwell with his constant attacks down the wing, dependable in defence as well.

Jozo Simunovic - (Centre-back) - No nonsense type of defender who is Celtic's best when fit, will be tasked with handling the dangerous Motherwell forward line spearheaded by Louis Moult.

Dedryck Boyata (Centre-back) - Has improved hugely under Brendan Rodgers' management but still prone to a lapse in judgement occasionally, will need to cut that out on Cup Final day.

Cristian Gamboa (Right-back) - Big game for the player who is in for the injured Mikael Lustig, has played in huge World Cup qualifying games for Costa Rica so he should be able to handle the occasion.

Midfield

Celtic

Patrick Roberts (Left-wing) - Missed out against PSG as he's just back from injury, the Manchester City loanee has huge amount of talent, could prove to be the match-winner on the day.

Scott Brown (Central midfield) - Celtic's captain and most important player, makes the team tick and has the ability to control the game from the middle of the park, can help protect the defence too.

Callum McGregor (Central midfield) - Has the ability to chip in with vital goals from midfield, isn't afraid to do the dirty work either and is capable of putting in a shift in the middle of the park where the game will be won.

Scott Sinclair (Right-wing) - Dropped against PSG but when on form Scotland's player of the year is practically unstoppable, will be tasked with creating chaos on the wing. Means no place for 21-year-old Olivier Ntcham though.
