Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom is set to complete his transfer to Derby by Sunday, according to a report.

The Derby Telegraph claims that the Rams want to officially make the 24-year-old part of their squad before they jet off to a training camp in Tenerife.

The Championship club have already confirmed that Wisdom is set to exit Anfield this summer after agreeing a fee with Liverpool and saying that he is set to complete a medical in the East Midlands before the end of June.

The latest report in the Derby Telegraph says that the sum that has been agreed upon starts at £2million and can rise as high as £4.5million in the future.

Wisdom spent a season on loan with the Rams during 2013/14 and became a hit with the fans with his brilliant performances.

He made 38 appearances across all competitions before being sent back to Merseyside, where he has since became accustomed to being sent out on loan after less-than-impressive spells with West Brom and Norwich.

Last season saw Wisdom shipped out to Austrian club Red Bull Salzburg, where he played 24 times as he helped them win the league title.

The right-back, who can also play in the centre of defence, made a total of 22 appearances for Liverpool, scoring once.

Wisdom is one of those players who had a lot of promise but didn't quite have what it took to be a top Premier League player. His spell at West Brom proved that he wasn't cut out for the top-tier of English football after he struggled to earn the support of the crowd. It's strange that Liverpool have kept him for so long as at 24-years-of-age, people would assume that Wisdom is too old to be sent out on loan and should really be settling down with a permanent home. Derby appears to be that home for him though - and their fans will love to have him back.
