Liverpool goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher is developing into a "top-quality" goalkeeper, according to Paul Robinson.

However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one fears the 23-year-old could soon push for an exit from Anfield in search of regular game time.

Kelleher replaced the unavailable Alisson Becker for Liverpool's trip to Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

Virgil van Dijk told Sky Sports after the match (2 January) that he's "a big fan" of Kelleher.

When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Kelleher's development, Robinson said: "He's developing into a top-quality keeper.

"There will come a time when he wants to play regularly though. He will only sit there for so long.

"Alisson is going to be there long term. If Kelleher has got his head around the fact that he will the long-term successor to Alisson then fair enough. But that could be a long time of playing only in the cup competitions.

"I think he'll want to start playing every week soon. Every club carries two top-class goalkeepers because there is so many cup competitions. Liverpool will not want to lose him."

Kelleher has made four appearances for the Reds in the 2021-22 campaign.

He put pen to paper on a new five-year contract an Anfield in the summer.
