Liverpool could sign 'frightening' Thiago Alcantara partner after source's reveal - pundit
Frank McAvennie has insisted Liverpool "need" to sign Jude Bellingham next summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker said Bellingham and Thiago Alcantara would be a "frightening" partnership in midfield.
Earlier this month (1 October), sources told this site that Jordan Henderson and Trent Alexander-Arnold urged the 19-year-old to join them at Anfield next summer.
The duo used the England camp during the international break to tell the midfielder why Jurgen Klopp's side would be the perfect fit.
Bellingham has been identified by the Liverpool recruitment team as the perfect option for their midfield.
The Reds have held extensive talks with Bellingham's representatives and are confident they have laid the groundwork for a potential deal in the summer.
The England international has three years remaining on his Borussia Dortmund contract after signing an extension last summer.
McAvennie insisted Bellingham would be the perfect partner for Thiago.
"I like Thiago, he strolls about, he has an air of confidence about him, a bit of swagger, I like that," he told Football Insider.
"Him and Bellingham, what a partnership that would be my god.
"Liverpool need Bellingham. I would go and spend the money in the summer and go and get him because they need him.
"I think him in the midfield would be absolutely frightening."
Bellingham has made 15 appearances for the Bundesliga club across all competitions this season.
In those outings the midfielder has scored five goals and provided two assists.
