Mamadou Sakho's five-month long appeal to clear his name has finally concluded, according to a report.

The World Anti-Doping Agency revealed that they would not appeal against Uefa's decision to drop the doping allegations against the defender to clear him once and for all of being a cheat.

The Telegraph claimed last month that WADA was reviewing the decision by Uefa's control, ethics and disciplinary body to clear Sakho, with a view to lodging a possible appeal.

A new report by the Telegraph on Tuesday finally revealed that a spokesman of WADA came out and publicly expressed that they would not attempt to overturn the decision.

“We reviewed the case, but decided not to appeal," a spokesman said, as quoted by the Telegraph.

WADA has left itself open to a huge lawsuit from Sakho and Liverpool, as the defender missed both the Europa League final for the Merseyside club and the European Championships, where he was set to represent his home nation of France, while he was under investigation.

Sakho tested positive for a substance called Heganomine, following the second leg of Liverpool's dramatic Europa League tie against Manchester United on March 17th.

The compound was included in a fat-burner Sakho had been taking, which was checked against the Wada's Prohibited List to ensure it was legal.

Wada's spokesperson also stated that the agency must take "sole responsibility" for the months-long saga, along with admitting: “The way in which Wada managed this case is unacceptable, absolutely unacceptable."

The French defender has missed the start of Liverpool's season due to an Achilles injury, as he was sent home from the club's pre-season tour of the United States.

Sakho is now facing a spell away from Anfield, as the club look to send him out on loan to regain his fitness.
