Liverpool expected 4-3-3 v Chelsea: 27-year-old axed in three Klopp changes

Liverpool face Chelsea on Saturday and Jurgen Klopp is expected to make three changes to the side that dropped a 3-0 lead and drew 3-3 with Sevilla on Tuesday.

Liverpool go into this game on the back of failing to qualify for the Champions League knockout stages with a game to spare – they now need a point in their final game against Spartak Moscow to progress.

By contrast, their opponents Chelsea comfortably qualified for the knockouts with a 4-0 win over FK Qarabag on Wednesday.

Antonio Conte even had the luxury of resting Alvaro Morata for Saturday's clash, although the team did have to make a gruelling 5,000 mile round trip for the game in Azerbaijan.

Chelsea head into the game two positions higher than Liverpool in the league table with three more points, and Klopp will be desperate to even things out in the Premier League.

Football Insider has identified the starting XI that Klopp is expected to name on Saturday.

Goalkeeper and defenders

Simon Mignolet (Goalkeeper) -

Klopp's number one choice between the sticks when it comes to the Premier League, Mignolet is expected to regain his place in the team following Loris Karius getting his usual start in the Champions League on Tuesday.

Joe Gomez (Right-Back) - The young defender is expected to keep his place in the starting eleven, after another solid performance against Sevilla on Tuesday.

Joel Matip (Centre-Back) - The Cameroon international is set to return to the side following a thigh injury that kept him from playing against Sevilla. He is expected to replace Ragnar Klavan.

Dejan Lovren (Centre-Back) - The 28-year-old had a really good outing for the Reds against Sevilla, despite his side conceding three goals and it would be a shock not to seem him start against Chelsea.

Alberto Moreno (Left-Back) - The defender was making the headlines on Tuesday for all the wrong reasons, with two mistakes leading to goals against Sevilla. However, Klopp has put a lot of faith in him this season and it would send out a devastating message if he dropped him for this game.

Midfielders

Philippe Coutinho (Attacking midfield) - The Brazilian is vital to Liverpool and even after all the transfer speculation in the summer, the skillful midfielder is one of the first names on the team sheet. His performance will be vital against Chelsea.

Emre Can (Centre midfield) – Despite the midfielder's future being in doubt, Klopp knows that Can is a solid option to utilise when playing a rival like Chelsea and should come in after Jordan Henderson, 27, had a stinker in midweek.

Georginio Wijnaldum (Centre midfield) – He's played ten out of Liverpool's 12 Premier League games this season and they haven't won either of the two he didn't play in. Klopp should select him against Chelsea.

Mohamed Salah (Right wing) – The 25-year-old has been nothing short of a sensation since his move to Liverpool in the summer, and he is expected to start the game against his former side.

Roberto Firmino (Striker)- The Brazilian got back on the goal trail on Tuesday and Klopp will be looking for more of the same on Saturday.

Sadio Mane (Left wing) – Mane completes an attacking line-up for Liverpool, that all but confirms goals. The 25-year-old will hoping to add the three league goals he has got this season.
