Liverpool fans have ripped into Naby Keita after he was suspended by Werder Bremen until the end of the season.

The German club reported on its official website on Tuesday (16 April) that the 29-year-old will no longer train with the team or be part of the first-team dressing room.

It comes after the midfielder chose not to travel with the squad and decided to go home after finding out he would not be in the starting XI for the trip to Bayer Leverkusen on Sunday (16 April).

The hosts won the match 5-0 to clinch the Bundesliga title with five games remaining, ending Bayern Munich’s run of 11 consecutive titles.

Liverpool fans rip into former player after suspension

Keita joined Bremen upon the expiry of his Liverpool contract last summer, having made 129 appearances for the Reds.

But his time at the German club now looks certain to come to an end, with Liverpool fans ripping into the player on social media after his suspension.
