Martin Skrtel's half-time introduction against Southampton ushered in a complete meltdown for Liverpool - and Reds fans vented their frustration on the Slovakian.

Liverpool threw away a 2-0 lead to lose 3-2 in the Premier League to the Saints thanks to a wonderful second half performance from Southampton and a dreadful 45 minutes from the Merseysiders.

Southampton made two key substitutions at the break as Victor Wanyama and match-winner Sadio Mane were introduced, while Liverpool brought on Skrtel for the injured Dejan Lovren at the same.

Playing in his first match since December, Skrtel almost immediately gave away a penalty and was at the heart of a dramatic collapse from the in-form Merseysiders.

Skrtel, who had been out for three months with a hamstring injury, warmed up for his re-introduction into the first-team by getting sent off during an Under-21s game mid-week.

Some Liverpool supporters are praying his Saints performance will encourage Jurgen Klopp to shoo Skrtel out the door in the summer, but others were baffled as to why their manager thought bringing on the Slovakian was a good idea.
