Lazar Markovic's representatives have approached Galatasaray over the possibility of the winger moving to the Turkish giants this summer, according to a report.

The Serbia international spent a frustrating season on loan with Turkish club Fenerbahce this season after injury ruled him out of almost the entirety of the second half of the campaign.

However, Markovic is now reported to be keen to make a permanent move to Turkey and Turkish outlet Fotospor claim the 22-year-old has sent his agent to investigate whether a deal could be done.

Liverpool splashed out £20million on Markovic just two years ago, but are said to open to offers for the winger, who signed a long-term deal at the time.

Markovic's first season at Anfield had its ups and downs, but was eventually marred by the player's bizarre sending off against Basel in the Champions League last season when the youngster appeared to flick his finger in the face of an opponent.

The winger then claimed a falling out with then manager Brendan Rodgers left him with no choice, but to seek first team football elsewhere.

Galatasaray are of course bitter rivals with Fenerbahce and Markovic's move to his former club's sworn enemies could make for big headlines in Turkey.

Markovic managed to provide three assists and two goals in just 21 appearances for Fenerbahce this season.

In other Liverpool transfer news, Leeds have denied claims they have received a bid for their star youngster.
