Jadon Sancho went out on loan to Borussia Dortmund last month after high-profile Ten Hag fall-out

Man United are set to put a decision on Jadon Sancho's long-term future at the club on hold until the summer, sources have told Football Insider.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the door could be open for Sancho to make a sensational return to Old Trafford if Erik ten Hag departs the club.

As such, sources say the winger's Man United future is "up in the air" despite his loan exit last month.

Ten Hag is only under contract at United until June 2025 and is yet to be offered an extension following a disappointing first half of the 2023-24 campaign.

Sancho went out on loan to Borussia Dortmund in January following a fall-out with the Dutchman earlier this season.

However, Dortmund's sporting director has already claimed it will be "very difficult" to strike a permanent deal - and Football Insider has revealed (5 February) it could cost between £40-50million to land the winger this summer.

It is believed Man United are keen to recoup a large portion of the reported £73million they paid to the German club for Sancho in 2021.

The England international is still under contract at Old Trafford until June 2026.

He started the season as an attacking option for Man United but was exiled following a high-profile spat with manager Ten Hag in September which revolved around his training levels.

Sancho has managed two assists in three Bundesliga games since returning to Dortmund last month.

He has notched 12 goals and six assists for United since joining the club in 2021.
