Slaven Bilic is desperate to keep Adrian at West Ham and is reportedly set to offer the goalkeeper a new contract, which could scupper Newcastle's advances.

The Sun claims both Newcastle and Crystal Palace were interested in signing the 30-year-old stopper to bolster their ranks between the sticks, as both sides look to steer clear of a relegation battle.

However, in quotes published by the report, Bilic revealed that he was keen for the east London side to offer the Spanish goalkeeper a new contract despite the signing of Joe Hart.

"The situation with Adrian is that we would love to keep him," Bilic said. "We rate him, we like him, we would like to offer him a new contract.”

It remains to be seen if Adrian will be willing to act as England goalkeeper Hart's back-up during the 2017-18 season, when he could be offered first-team football elsewhere in the Premier League.

Football Insider considers three alternatives from the Premier League that Newcastle should look to sign instead of Adrian if they do indeed miss out, including a 76-time international:

Michel Vorm

Holland international Vorm, 33, could be on the lookout for a new club as he is likely to be growing frustrated on the Tottenham bench behind captain Hugo Lloris.

A proven Premier League performer, the former Swansea stopper 32 clean sheets in 99 top-tier matches but managed just 11 senior appearances last season.

Now, with only one season left on his Spurs contract, Newcastle could look to strike a cut-price deal to sign the experienced stopper.

Artur Boruc

Former Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc is likely to feel slightly aggrieved after starring for the Cherries between the sticks last season, before Bournemouth decided to spend £10million on Asmir Begovic.

It will make the 37-year-old veteran second choice at the Vitality Stadium, and at this point in his career he needs regular first-team football to prolong his involvement in the game.

Newcastle can offer the Poland international that game time, as he would prove a huge improvement on the likes of Karl Darlow and Rob Elliot.

David Ospina

Ospina, 28, is likely to be in a similar boat to Vorm as he continues to play back-up to Arsenal number one Petr Cech.

His future has been the centre of much attention of late, with Turkish news outlet Fanatik claiming that Fenerbahce had struck a £6million deal to sign him last month.

The 76-time Colombia international may be tempted by regular first-team football in the Premiership if Newcastle do come calling, rather than continually warming the bench at the Emirates Stadium.
