Marc Guehi 'angry' at being 'stitched up' after last-minute Liverpool collapse
Marc Guhei has been left "angry and disappointed" at Crystal Palace after they pulled the plug on his deadline day move to Liverpool.
That is according to former Man United and Blackburn chief scout Mick Brown, who remains very well-connected within the game, as he exclusively told Football Insider that the 25-year-old had his heart set on a summer move to Liverpool.
Having behaved respectively throughout the window, without forcing a move or causing any issues for the Eagles, he is said to be upset with their actions.
Football Insider first and exclusively revealed in October 2024 that Guehi told friends he wanted to join Liverpool as he wants to compete for major honours.
Oliver Glasner is believed to be the reason for the deal's last-minute collapse after making clear to Steve Parish what the consequences of losing their captain would be.
Meanwhile, the Eagles failed to bring in a replacement after Liverpool waited until 48 hours before the deadline to make a formal offer, making the situation "impossible".

Football Insider revealed on 2 September that Liverpool will return for Guehi in January as he remains a key target for Arne Slot despite the late blow to their plans.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, explained that despite his frustrations the player is unlikely to cause any major issues behind the scenes.
"It looked like an absolute done deal for Guehi to join Liverpool," he told Football Insider.
"It was a bit of an impossible situation for Palace given how late it was in the window, but ultimately it looked like they'd accepted an offer.
"He isn't happy with the situation, he's disappointed and angry that he didn't get the move he's been after, particularly with the decision made so late in the day.
"He's done everything right, kept his mouth shut and got on with it, but ultimately he's been stitched up.
"So he has every right to be unhappy with the way things have played out.
"From everything I'm told about him, he's a smashing lad and an outstanding professional.
"I don't think he's the type to kick up a major fuss and start causing issues for everybody.
"He'll get on with it, continue playing for Crystal Palace as he has throughout this saga, and he will eventually get his move away because of his contract."
Harvey Elliott completes cut-price Aston Villa move
One deal that did get done at Anfield on deadline day was Harvey Elliott's move to Aston Villa, with a loan-to-buy agreement reached with the 22-year-old.
Brown told Football Insider on 2 September that Liverpool were made to accept a cut-price fee for Elliott despite their original asking price being a much higher fee.
Arne Slot’s side had been holding out for a £50million fee throughout the summer transfer window, but ultimately accepted a loan with an obligation to buy for £35million.
RB Leipzig were the front-runners to sign Elliott before Villa made a deadline day move, with the player keen to remain in the Premier League.
