Crystal Palace's price tag for centre-back Marc Guehi is too expensive for Liverpool, sources have told Football Insider.
The Reds are long-term admirers of the 24-year-old and remain in the market for a new left-sided defender.
Newcastle United have made the first move for Guehi in their bid to land him before the 30 August transfer deadline.
It is believed the Magpies want to make a statement of intent by bringing the England international to St James' Park.
Football Insider revealed on Saturday (3 August) that Crystal Palace have told Newcastle they want an initial fee of £50million for Guehi, supplemented by add-ons.

Sources say both Liverpool and Man United, who hold a long-term interest in the former Chelsea star, are not likely to meet those demands in the remainder of the summer window.
Guehi has boosted his value with a string of stellar performances for beaten finalists England at Euro 2024.
He made six starts for the Three Lions at the tournament.
The 24-year-old played 29 times across all competitions at club level last term, captaining Palace when he was fit.
Guehi is under contract at Selhurst Park until June 2026 after joining from Chelsea three years ago.
