Mark Lawrenson predicts Liverpool v Leicester

Mark Lawrenson has predicted that Liverpool will beat managerless Leicester 2-0 on Monday.

The former Reds player has said that Claudio Ranieri's sacking on Thursday will do little to sway the result, although it could see the players become more united.

Making his predictions on the BBC Sport website, the 59-year-old believes that Liverpool will overcome the title holders if they continue the level of performance from their last outing in which they beat Tottenham 2-0.

Sadio Mane scored twice in that win and Jurgen Klopp's high-tempo, heavy pressure tactic will come in useful once again as Liverpool seek to regain a top four place.

Before the victory against Spurs, the Merseryside club had failed to win a single league game since New Year's Eve.

"I made my original prediction for this game before Ranieri's exit and, although I have not changed the score, the situation makes it more difficult for Liverpool," Lawro said.

"There is no doubt there will be more of a unified effort from the Leicester team, whether their new manager is in place or not. It always happens.

"I still think Liverpool will win, if they play like they did against Tottenham. It suits the Reds when they press teams all over the pitch, and that is definitely the way forward for them."

Leicester will be in shock on Monday as they begin life without Ranieri.

The Italian led them to one of the greatest moments in football history last season when they lifted the Premier League title.

However Wednesday's 2-1 defeat to Sevilla and a poor season in the league has seen Ranieri sacked and Liverpool's trip to the King Power on Monday will prove to hold judgement of the Foxes board's decision.
