Mason Holgate has no future at Everton while Sean Dyche is the manager, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed that the boss held no interest in bringing the defender, 27, back in January despite the Toffees deciding long before the window opened that they would recall him from his loan at Southampton.

He has since moved temporarily to Premier League strugglers Sheffield United and has earned three consecutive starts under Chris Wilder.

Sean Dyche has made his stance on Mason Holgate very clear - he has no future at Everton

However, he was shown a straight red card for a recklessly high challenge on Brighton forward Kaoru Mitoma just 13 minutes into the Blades' 5-0 defeat on Sunday (18 February).

Following his struggles at Everton, his failure to establish himself in the Championship and his poor start to life at Bramall Lane, Dyche is unlikely to use him as a regular first-team player for as long as he is at the helm of the Merseyside giants.

Since the start of last season, Holgate has made just 19 appearances across the three clubs in all competitions, with 15 of these being in the starting line-up.

Everton

Everton sit 17th in the Premier League table after their 1-1 draw against Crystal Palace on Monday night (19 February).

They are next in action against the Seagulls at the Amex on Saturday afternoon (24 February).
