Celtic are pushing to bring LAFC star Mateusz Bogusz and Augsburg midfielder Arne Engels to the club before Friday's (30 August) transfer deadline, sources have told Football Insider.

Hoops boss Brendan Rodgers wants a big slice of the Matt O'Riley windfall to replace the Danish midfielder and improve his squad in the final days of the summer window.

Football Insider revealed on Saturday (24 August) that O'Riley has completed his medical at Brighton ahead of a record-breaking £25million plus add-ons move - and the Premier League club have now confirmed his arrival.

Rodgers is desperate for his side to continue their dominance in Scotland as well as put forward a competitive side in the new-look Champions League.

Bogusz, 23, and Engels, 20, have been identified as top targets at Parkhead ahead of the transfer deadline on Friday.

Former Leeds ace Bogusz has notched 17 goals and seven assists in 34 appearances for US side LAFC this year.

He only left England for the United States last year (2023) but is a top target for Celtic, who have made enquiries about his availability.

Meanwhile, Engels is a regular for Augsburg in Germany's Bundesliga and has made 53 appearances for the club across three seasons.

He earned his first call-up to the Belgium senior squad earlier this year and is under contract until June 2027.
