Garry Monk has revealed he will hold talks with the Leeds United owners in the immediate aftermath of their final match of the season against this weekend.

Monk's position has been the subject of intense debate over the past week after the team failed to secure a place in the end-of-season play-offs.

Reports have claimed that joint Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani is ready to sack the 38-year-old manager and replace him with someone from overseas.

But Monk insisted at his weekly media briefing on Thursday that he could still be at Elland Road next season and that discussions will take place with the club's powerbrokers.

"There has been a lot of speculation about my future and I will sit down with the owners after the Wigan game," Monk told LUFC TV, as quoted by the official Leeds Twitter account.

Monk was appointed on a 12-month contract last summer and has said his current deal is due to expire at the end of the season.

He has the almost universal support of the Leeds fanbase for transforming the fortunes of the team, which had languished in mid table in each of the previous five seasons.

The Yorkshire giants will finish in seventh in the Championship this season, a rise of six places from 2015-16, after falling marginally short in their bid to reach the play-offs.

Leeds make the short journey to Wigan for their final league game of the campaign on Sunday.

In other Leeds United news, the deal is all but done for the club to complete the transfer of an experienced Premier League man from West Ham.
