Newcastle could now land 'huge' Miguel Almiron fee - sources
Newcastle United could be set for a "huge" fee for Miguel Almiron this summer as Saudi Pro League clubs show an interest in the forward.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O'Rourke suggested the club could be about to receive hefty bids from the Middle East for Almiron, who has two years to run on his current Newcastle deal.
Saudi Arabian outfit Al-Shabab remain interested in the Paraguayan following an offer in January which was turned down by the Magpies.
However, as Stefan Borson exclusively revealed to Football Insider on 18 June, the toughening of restrictions on associated party business means Newcastle may have to lower their asking price for Almiron.
Almiron expected to leave Newcastle this summer
The current transfer window could see Almiron could be put up for sale as a "sacrificial lamb", helping Newcastle comply with Financial Fair Play regulations.
The 30-year-old has long attracted interest and without the looming amber alert of FFP regulations, Eddie Howe would prefer to keep a player in his squad who has made over 200 appearances in black and white.
Whilst his best scoring season saw him net 11 in 41 games in 2022-23 and his output dropped off somewhat last term, Almiron is considered an important senior professional.
Conversely, Football Insider revealed on 25 May that Almiron would join several homegrown players in being sold by the club in order to raise vital funds to balance the books.
The anticipated Saudi move will benefit Newcastle and allow Almiron a new chapter in his career.
