Newcastle United fans have been left raging at Crystal Palace after the latest twist in their never-ending chase to sign Marc Guehi.
The centre-back started and captained Palace in their 4-0 Carabao Cup victory against Norwich City, meaning he will be cup-tied should he move to St James' Park.
His involvement in the game - in which he played the full 90 minutes - also hints that there is still no imminent deal for his move despite reports elsewhere.
Football Insider revealed on 28 August that Newcastle have compiled a shortlist of alternatives to Guehi, although they are still pushing to sign the England international.
Negotiations between the two clubs have been dragging on for weeks, with Palace sticking firmly to their valuation which the Magpies are yet to reach.
After the sale of Joachim Andersen, Palace have become even more reluctant to let their star man leave so late in the transfer window.
Now, Newcastle fans are expressing their frustration at a transfer saga which has dragged on for far too long, with anger aimed both at Palace and their own club.

However, fans are now insisting they should walk away from any deal for the Palace man given the way they have been frustrated in negotiations.
Taking to social media, many supporters suggested Palace are "making us look like mugs", labelling the negotiations "a disgrace" and a "complete failure."
