Newcastle United and manager Eddie Howe are determined to keep Kieran Trippier at the club, sources have told Football Insider.

The English deadline has now passed but windows are still open in Saudi Arabia and Turkey, where Trippier, 33, has been linked with a potential move.

But sources say Newcastle will block any move for the right-back, who is under contract at St James' Park until June 2026.

The Magpies could not add the signings they wanted in the summer window and will now keep Trippier at the club.

Additionally, backup right-back Harrison Ashby has departed on loan to Championship side Queens Park Rangers.

Newcastle set to block Trippier exit

The desire to keep Trippier comes despite Tino Livramento seemingly replacing him as the first choice on the right side of Howe's defence.

Everton were linked with a potential loan swoop during the summer window but the move didn't materialise before the 30 August deadline.

Trippier has made two senior appearances in the 2024-25 campaign and captained the side in the League Cup win over Nottingham Forest.

He has retired from international duty after reaching the final of the European Championships with England over the summer.

The 54-cap star has made 94 appearances for Newcastle since joining in January 2022.
