Newcastle target Ross McCormack's release clause figure is set at £15million, according to a report.

McCormack is reportedly being tracked by several Premier League clubs as well as newly-relegated Newcastle after keeping up his impressive goal record at Fulham this season.

It was thought a bid of £12.5million would be enough to land the coveted centre forward, but Get West London claim his actual release clause is £15million.

McCormack signed a contract extension in January that tied him to the club until 2020 and increased his release clause by £2.5million.

The Scotland international followed up his 17 Championship goals last season with a further 21 this campaign and it means the striker has managed to surpass the 15-goal mark in the league in each of his last three seasons.

Newcastle were thought to be hopeful a deal could be done quickly, but that now seems unlikely with Fulham boss Slavisa Jokanovic desperate to hold onto his top goalscorer.

Rafael Benitez is believed to have identified McCormack as the perfect man to fire Newcastle back into the Premier League, but Jokanovic has similar plans for the striker at Fulham as he looks to rebuild his squad around his talents.

The former Leeds hitman was restored to the Scotland set-up after an excellent season at club level, but was left on the bench as his country finished off their round of friendlies this summer with a 3-0 defeat to France on Saturday.
