Nicolas Raskin 'doesn't have a clue' about Rangers after Celtic claim - pundit

Celtic and West Ham legend Frank McAvennie joined the Football Insider stable in June 2020 and has not disappointed with his own brand of unique punditry. He loves talking football almost as much as he loved scoring goals, and still has close links in the dressing room at Parkhead.

Frank McAvennie has claimed Nicolas Raskin "hasn't got a clue" about the rivalry between Celtic and Rangers.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Celtic striker said the competition in midfield now is good for the Gers.

On 31 January, the Light Blues secured the deadline day signing of Raskin, 21, from Standard Liege.

Speaking to RangersTV after his arrival (31 January), the midfielder said that in Belgium fans also look forward to their "big derby".

Raskin was in the starting lineup for the Gers in their scrappy 3-2 victory over Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup and provided an assist for Antonio Colak's goal.

The Belgian could get his first taste of the Old Firm rivalry next weekend (26 February), when the sides face off in the League Cup final.

McAvennie claimed the youngster is not prepared for what is in store.

"He was saying the rivalry between Liege and Anderlecht is very fierce but he does not have a clue about what the rivalry is like between Celtic and Rangers," he told Football Insider.

"There is not a game that comes close to Celtic and Rangers and it always ramps up the week before. So good luck to him in the week leading up to the cup final.

Rangers

"They have got a big fight for midfield players now which is great. I have not got a problem with competition.

"He seems to be a decent player and supposedly had the chance to go anywhere."
