'Not good enough' - Paul Robinson rips into senior Everton int'l, names two shining lights

Paul Robinson has named Everton duo Tom Davies and Mason Holgate as the club's shining lights during what has been a disappointing season for the Toffees.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, the former Tottenham and England goalkeeper says that the English pair have stood out for the right reasons under Marco Silva.

The centre-back and midfielder both started the season as backup options in the first-team but have each started the last four Premier League games.

Having seen the young pair step into the starting XI, Robinson says that the duo have been a rare positive for the Goodison Park faithful to cheer this season.

Robinson told Football Insider: "Mason Holgate's done well because he's not been his plans, he's been out on loan, he's a player that's matured later on, and I think Tom Davies has been good as well.

"He's played next to Morgan Schneiderlin who's underperformed, he's not been good enough this season but the manager's stuck with him for some reason.

"Tom Davies and Holgate are the two players who have done well at Everton this year."

Holgate, who can play as a right-back as well as a centre-half, has nine appearances under his belt in all competitions, taking Michael Keane's place in the starting lineup in recent weeks.

Meanwhile Davies has five Premier League starts in his eight outings, the serious injury blow to Andre Gomes handing him a regular spot in the side.
