Experienced Nottingham Forest players Jack Hobbs and David Vaughan will leave in the summer, according to a report.

The Nottingham Post claims that the pair, whose contracts expire in the summer, will not be offered new deals and will leave the club.

Midfielder Vaughan made 14 Championship appearances this season, while Hobbs has struggled for first-team game time over the past two seasons amid a bad back injury.

Both players have been at the club for almost five years and both were informed by Aitor Karanka at the training ground this morning.

Football Insider verdict:

This decision doesn't come as much of a surprise, but fans will be sorry to see the players go. When fit they both did a great job for Nottingham Forest, but both have suffered from injury problems. Hobbs has been trying to regain fitness from a back injury for the past two seasons, while Vaughan was limited to just 14 appearances this season becaise of an ankle injury. This is the start of a big squad revamp for Karanka, who is looking to add as many as 10 names to his squad for a serious push for promotion next season. Hobbs and Vaughan are the first two casualties, but others are expected to leave. The report claims that other players have already been told they can leave if they find clubs – and that they will need to move if they want regular first-team football.
