Nottingham Forest are set to complete the signing of Serbia international goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic, according to a reliable journalist.

Correspondent Paul Taylor of the Nottingham Post revealed on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday morning that he expects the 33-year-old later in the day.

The journalist, who has broken many previous Forest stories, said the Championship club "expect to confirm the signing of keeper (Stojkovic) today."

Stojkovic has earned 68 caps for his national team of Serbia and would bring a wealth of experience into the Forest ranks, which is exactly what fans are crying out for after a start to the season which has been riddled by defensive frailties.

The keeper also has experience at clubs such as Sporting Lisbon, Wigan Athletic, Red Star Belgrade, Partizan Belgrade and Maccabi Haifa, which is where he would be moving from.

Nottingham Forest have already conceded ten goals this campaign, the second highest in the league, as they sit in eleventh position, having won two and lost two.

Forest boss Philippe Montainer has persisted with Stephen Henderson in goal, following the departure of Dorus de Vries to Celtic, but has stated that the new keeper will be on his way to the City Ground in due course.

Speaking to the Nottingham Post, the Frenchman said: "We are waiting for the final things to fall into place.

"I hope to confirm the signing before the end of today. We are not working towards him playing against Millwall. When he arrives, we can work with him to prepare him to play a part later on."

In other Forest transfer news, this Reds winger, who is a target for Tottenham has been likened to Gareth Bale.
