Nottingham Forest fans react on Twitter as club reportedly seal January transfer

Benfica midfielder Joao Teixeira is set to join Nottingham Forest on loan until the end of the season - but fans on Twitter have mixed feelings.

The 22-year-old was most recently on the books of Championship rivals Wolves, but his time at the club came to an abrupt end after Paul Lambert deemed him surplus to requirements.

He made 20 appearances whilst on loan at Molineux this season, contributing two goals and two assists.

The Portugal midfielder is set to be named as Nottingham Forest's very first signing of the January window, and the first real indication from caretaker boss Gary Brazil that he is looking to revive the club's season.

The transfer was announced by BBC Sport on Friday afternoon, after football website HITC confirmed the player was undergoing a medical at the club.

However, there has yet been any official confirmation by either Forest or Benfica that the deal has been completed.

Upon hearing the news, many Nottingham Forest fans took to social media to give the transfer their stamp of approval. But that was not the case for everyone.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:

Teixeira could make his first appearance for the club on Tuesday when they take on bottom-of-the-table Rotherham in a crucial relegation clash.

However, it could take him a little while to settle as he has not seen any first-team action since Wolves' defeat to Cardiff on December 13.
