Nottingham Forest fans have slammed striker Ben Brereton for his performance in the 2-1 win against Ipswich at the City Ground on Saturday afternoon - even though he scored a late equaliser from the penalty spot and then assisted the winner.

Brereton, 18, was a surprise choice to start up front again despite having scored just one league goal in 2018, however Aitor Karanka put his faith in the teenage sensation and was rewarded with a last minute masterclass.

The in-demand teenager, who has reportedly attracted attention from the Premier League after breaking through at Forest, was booked just moments before scoring an equaliser when he was adjudged to have dived.

His attempt to con the referee did not go down at all well with the Reds supporters, who weren't afraid to tear into the Stoke-born teenager before he scored a goal.

One angry Forest supporter claimed that Brereton "needs to go" back into the Under-23s side for a bit.

Here is a selection of their tweets:

Most Forest fans may be eating their words after Brereton managed to turn the game on it's head in the final minutes, however his goal and assist perhaps do not tell the whole story about his performance.

He has made 36 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring five goals in the process.
