The incoming owners of Nottingham Forest have decided to stick with manager Philippe Montanier, according to a report.

The Sun claim American financier John Jay Moores will allow Montanier the time to get things right at the Championship club.

It is said that Montanier will be involved in the club's January transfer planning and will have a say on the players coming in and out of the City Ground.

Forest do not have replacement for the Frenchman, who took over in the summer, lined up and he could be set for an extended spell at the helm if results improve.

Moores is putting the finishing touches to his takeover of the club after agreeing a deal with the former owner of the club Fawaz Al Hasawi.

Documentation has been lodged at Companies House to ratify the takeover, while the Football League have reportedly given the green light to the deal.

The controversial Al Hasawi took over Forest in July 2012 following the death of previous chairman Nigel Doughty.

Current boss Philippe Montanier is the eighth manager to work under him since his arrival, with the previous bosses including club legend Stuart Pearce.

Forest are currently languishing in 16th place in the Championship with a haul of 26 points from their 21 matches this season. They are nine points adrift of the play-off places.
