The odds on Leeds signing Hull striker Abel Hernandez have been slashed, making them huge favourites to land their top summer target.

Hernandez is set to be a free agent at the end of June as his contract expires at Hull and the prolific goal machine burst back into the Championship with eight goals in 10 games after injury last season.

That put a number of clubs after him and Leeds are now firmly in the driving seat to land a player who could have a major impact for them next season.

Now, leading bookies BetVictor have seriously slashed the odds on him being at Elland Road next season to just 2/5.

The next club with an interest is Newcastle at 4/1 and then Aston Villa at 10/1.

Hernandez is said to be on £30k-a-week wages at Hull, but looking to increase that in a move as a free agent.

However, as a free agent he would come with no fee and at just 27 would still command a good sell-on fee.

Even if you take that of the equation Hernandez, at £40k-a-week, would cost just over £6million over three years.

There's every chance he is worth at least that if Leeds were to sell him on, which means that they really must smash their wage structure and bring in a man who can fire them back to the Premier League.
