Frank De Boer has been installed the new favourite to be the next Rangers manager, according to the latest bookmakers' odds.

Sky Bet have priced the former Ajax, Inter Milan and Crystal Palace manager, 47, as the 2/1 leading candidate to take over the Ibrox hotseat in place of incumbent Graeme Murty.

Ostersunds manager Graham Potter (5/2) is second favourite , while Cardiff boss Neil Warnock (11/2) and Kilmarnock's Steve Clarke (6/1) are also in the running.

The shuffle in the market comes after Potter had been the favourite, with De Boer a relatively distant 8/1.

Potter has been in charge of Swedish club Ostersunds for the last seven years, working miracles as he has lifted them up from the fourth-tier all the way to the top-flight, a cup win and this season has reached the Europa League knock-out rounds.

Football Insider verdict:

De Boer would be a real coup for Rangers, given the calibre of the clubs he has managed. Forget the four-match spell at Crystal Palace, he demonstrated his managerial calibre by winning four Dutch titles at Ajax and was also on the bench for the Holland national side that were runners-up at the 2010 World Cup. The Dutchman is fondly remembered by Bears for the season he spent at Rangers towards the end of his glittering playing career. He would be a hugely popular face in the dugout, and could be a sensation in the Scottish Premiership.
