Leicester City are leading the race to sign Tottenham midfielder Oliver Skipp, sources have told Football Insider.

Fellow Premier League newcomers Ipswich Town are also pushing to sign the 23-year-old before the 31st August cut-off.

The central midfielder made 24 appearances for the north London club last season but will be allowed to leave the Tottenham Stadium in search of more regular first-team football.

Leicester are in the market for a player in this position after losing Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall to Chelsea, and the Spurs academy graduate is at the top of the list.

The Foxes are keen to sign a proven Premier League player who can instantly slot into Steve Cooper’s team, and Skipp has the experience to do that.

Leicester City want Oliver Skipp to move straight into the team

The 23-year-old has made 77 appearances in the Premier League, notching one goal.

However, Skipp has struggled to establish himself as a regular starter throughout his time under Ange Postecoglou.

The midfielder is under contract at Tottenham until 2027, which puts Spurs in a strong negotiating position ahead of this potential transfer.

Leicester are also in the market to sign a striker before the transfer window shuts as Cooper looks to enhance his options.
