Paul Robinson heaped praise on Son Heung-min after the Tottenham winger completed his national military service in time for the season's restart.
The former Spurs and Leeds United goalkeeper, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, suggested the 27-year-old's influence on the team both on and off the field will be invaluable for the remainder of the season.
The winger has returned to London having completed his mandatory three-week military service in his native South Korea.
Son, who finished one of the top-five performers in his class, will reunite with his teammates this week after Premier League clubs unanimously agreed to return to training from today.
Jose Mourinho feared the attacker would miss the rest of the season after he fractured his arm against Aston Villa in February but unprecedented circumstances mean Son will be available for the remainder of the campaign's fixtures.
When asked by Football Insider how big a boost the Korean's return would be to the Lilywhites, Robinson said: "It is one of the only positives to come out of this awful situation that we are all in if you are a Spurs fan.
"His importance to the team has become very apparent in the last two seasons. No matter where he plays, he is a key figure.
"He has a big influence on the dressing room as well so he is important to Spurs both on and off the field.
"The one bright thing to come out of this lockdown is that Son had the ability to complete his shortened military service."
The South Korea international was handed reduced conscription after winning the Asian Games in 2018.
Son has scored 16 goals and provided 9 assists in 31 appearances in all competitions this season.
