Paul Robinson gushed about Rangers attacker Alfredo Morelos and praised Steven Gerrard for the way he has carefully managed him.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O'Leary, the former England keeper stated that Morelos' 2019 goalscoring record speaks for itself as it's outstanding.

Morelos has scored 25 goals in 31 appearances this season but despite his red-hot form he failed to score in the 1-0 loss to Celtic on Sunday.

Robinson explained that given that the Colombian seems to have put his poor disciplinary record behind him then Gerrard deserves credit for getting the best out of him.

When asked about Morelos' red-hot form in recent weeks, Robinson told Football Insider: "His goalscoring record this year speaks for itself as it's been outstanding.

"He's a hard-working forward and the old saying is, you start defending from the front.

"He gives you so much more than just goals as it's there's his all-round game and contribution to the team, he's willing to put in a shift.

"And Steven has man-managed him extremely well as he has had bad discipline in the past, and he's getting the best out of him and he's finding form."

Morelos racked up 30 goals in 48 appearances for the Gers in his 2018/19 campaign but also notably ended the campaign with 16 yellow cards to his name.

The 23-year-old forward has been at Ibrox since 2017 and is contracted to stay put until 2023 after signing a contract extension in March 2019.
