England fans have torn into Phil Foden after his display in the UEFA Nations League clash with Greece at Wembley on Thursday night (10 October).

Lee Carsley's side fell to a shock 2-1 defeat at home as the interim boss experimented with his team and tactics, leaving England looking lost and lacking a focal point.

Vangelis Pavlidis scored the opening goal shortly after half-time, but after Jude Bellingham looked to have been the late hero again with an 87th-minute equaliser, Pavlidis scored his second in the 94th minute to snatch all three points.

Cole Palmer, Bukayo Saka, Anthony Gordon, Jude Bellingham and Phil Foden all started the game in an unorthodox system which caused more issues for themselves than Greece.

However, it was the latter who took the majority of the stick from the home crowd at Wembley, with Foden's performance under the microscope again.

The 24-year-old Man City star once again failed to impact the game for his country, leaving many to wonder why he is continuously picked for these games.

Phil Foden slammed after what he did for England v Greece

Foden has scored just four times in 41 caps for the England national team, calling into question his effectiveness in an attacking role on the international stage.

By comparison, Harry Maguire has scored seven goals in 64 caps from centre-back, and fans have now begun to turn on the Man City man.

Taking to social media following the defeat to Greece, Foden was labelled "horrendous" and "a disgrace", with one insisting he is "the most overrated player in history".
