Philippe Clement is "fighting for his job" at Rangers after his team's shattering defeat to Celtic, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that pressure is building on 50-year-old Clement and has warned Rangers fans to brace for 'more pain'.

Japanese duo Daizen Maeda and Kyogo Furuhashi put the home side 2-0 ahead by half-time, with captain Callum McGregor sealing the victory with a close-range finish in the 75th minute.

Rangers have had a frustrating start to the season, securing just two wins from their first four games and failing to qualify for the Champions League group stage.

After just four games, Rangers now sit five points behind their city rivals in the Scottish Premier League table.

Rangers pressure building on Philippe Clement

The Belgian manager joined the Ibrox club in October 2023, winning the League Cup and finishing as runner-up in the Scottish Premiership and Scottish Cup.

Clement was recently handed a new contract until the summer of 2028, extending his stay at the club he has "fallen in love with" by a year.

His spell at Rangers is his most successful since becoming a manager, averaging 2.2 points per game with a win rate percentage of 67 per cent.

Firstly though, Clement and his side will have the chance to redeem themselves in a league match against Dundee United at Tannadice Park on September 15.
