Police issue update on status of Leeds v Middlesbrough clash after meeting
Leeds' Championship fixture with Middlesbrough on Friday night is clinging on by its frozen fingertips at the moment, after an update from Cleveland Police.
Assistant Chief Constable Jason Harwin issued the update after a meeting with the Chief Inspector of Cleveland Police.
At the present time the fixture is still on but Harwin confirmed that another meeting would take place with Middlesbrough FC and the council later on today.
No time was given for the decision and no indication of whether the tie was likely to go ahead or not.
However, he did say that public safety is the priority, which means that even if Middlesbrough manage to get the stadium fit for the match, it might get called off if the police think there is danger in fans getting to the ground.
The update was posted on Harwin's Twitter account on Thursday morning, after Middlesbrough had released a statement saying they were doing everything possible to get the game to go ahead.
