Pundit delivers 'criminal' verdict on Oxlade-Chamberlain quitting Liverpool in January
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will only sanction an exit from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain if a replacement is signed first.
That is the view of former Spurs and England number one Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 28-year-old's Anfield future.
Injuries have hampered Oxlade-Chamberlain's time on Merseyside.
The centre-midfielder has been a bit-part player for Jurgen Klopp's side over the past 18 months.
This season he has made five appearances but only two have been starts.
According to the Mirror (October 11th), Oxlade-Chamberlain fears he will have to quit Liverpool to get more regular game time.
"He's too good not to be playing," he told Football Insider's Dylan Childs. "It's criminal.
"I cannot see Liverpool letting him go in January though. Salah and Mane are off to the African Cup of Nations and he is one of the players who can play in those wide positions.
"I cannot see Klopp being willing to let Oxlade-Chamberlain go for that reason. He gives them an option across the midfield and the front line.
"A player like that is going to be hard to replace. He is the ideal player.
"But, from the player's point of view, he is too good to be sitting on the bench every week. He is not getting enough game time.
"The only situation I can see him leaving in January is if Liverpool signed a replacement first."
