Pundit issues 'sensational' Jude Bellingham claim after Liverpool source's update
Frank McAvennie has claimed if Liverpool can secure the signing of Jude Bellingham it will be one of the "biggest" signings of the season.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker suggested Bellingham, 19, is a "wonderful" talent that would provide a lot of encouragement to the Reds.
On Saturday (23 July), this site revealed that Jurgen Klopp's side are making solid progress on a deal for the midfielder.
The club are said to be working on a deal with Borussia Dortmund to bring the England international to Anfield next summer.
Klopp is said to be interested in the 19-year-old to bolster his ageing midfield.
Bellingham currently has three years left on his contract with the German club.
When asked for his assessment of the latest, McAvennie told Football Insider: "[Jordan] Henderson is 30 plus now, Fabinho is also getting older.
"Football is about youngsters now especially in the midfield. Jude Bellingham is a wonderful talent.
"If Liverpool can get him, that's a big signing. It's a massive signing and it will give them the encouragement to kick on.
"It's a lot of new faces, a new team, there's already some wonderful talent in there. I think that would be one of the biggest signings of the season outside Man City bringing in [Erling] Haaland. It would be sensational."
Bellingham made 44 appearances for Dortmund last season, scoring six goals and providing 14 assists.
